The market for sunflower oil is large and stable. And for good reason. It's light, has a mild flavor, and works well for everyday cooking as well as food processing. Sunflower seeds contain approximately 28–35% oil by weight, making them one of the best oilseeds for mechanical pressing using a sunflower seed oil press.

Getting from raw seeds to bottled refined oil isn't a one-step process. It requires a properly configured line, including cleaning, hulling, pressing, filtration, and batch refining. Each stage impacts the next. Skip or rush any of these, and you pay the price in terms of oil yield or oil quality.

Project Background and Solution

We provided to client full sunflower oil processing line built around a continuous sunflower seeds oil press machine for hot pressing extraction, paired with a plate filter for crude oil filtration and a batch refining system for finished oil production.

Results

✅️ Sunflower cake oil residue: The highest oil yield from raw seeds, approximately 6–9%, and low wastage.

✅️ Crude oil color: Light yellow, clear after plate filtration

✅️ Refined oil quality: Meets standard edible oil specifications for retail and food processing

✅️ Sunflower cake: Suitable as animal feed ingredient, marketable byproduct with real commercial value

✅️ Processing capacity: 100–500 kg/h continuous operation

For applications where maximizing oil extraction per batch is crucial, such as small-scale or premium cold-pressed sunflower oil production, hydraulic oil presses are also available as an alternative extraction method. Hydraulic oil presses operate batch-by-batch and reduce residual oil cake to 3–5%, making them a practical option for specialty oil producers focused on yield and nutrient retention rather than processing volume.
