Cold Press Oil Production Process Using Hydraulic Oil Press Machine
FROM RAW MATERIAL TO PREMIUM COLD PRESSED OIL: HYDRAULIC OIL PRESS, THE SOLUTION FOR HIGH-VALUE OILSEED COLD PRESSING
Low temperature pressing, maximum nutrient retention, and clean oil output and a complete cold press solution for specialty oilseed processing
In this case study, we will discuss the production needs of a typical edible oil producer, working with high-value oilseeds, including walnuts, almonds, sesame, flaxseeds, and pumpkin seeds, where oil quality, nutrient retention, and natural flavor are key production targets.
A specialty edible oil company approached us with a clear need—they wanted a cold press extraction system for high-value oilseeds, where oil quality and nutrient retention were paramount. They argued that high heat during pressing destroys the natural compounds that give specialty oils their value, and our standard screw press, operating at 100–130°C, wasn't ideal for the type of product they wanted to produce. We examined their raw materials, production targets, and product requirements, then developed a complete cold press oil extraction solution built around our hydraulic oil press as the core extraction unit.

The hydraulic oil press solved this directly. By applying high static pressure to each batch of oilseeds at low temperature, the equipment extracted oil without generating the frictional heat that damages heat-sensitive nutrients, natural flavor compounds, and oil color. The finished cold pressed oil required no refining. It went from press to filter to bottle, preserving everything the raw seed had to offer.
Machine Introduction: Hydraulic Oil Press
<!--[if !supportLists]-->1. <!--[endif]-->Cold Pressing System:
<!--[if !supportLists]-->· <!--[endif]-->Low-temperature pressing throughout the entire extraction process; pressing temperature does not exceed 60°C
<!--[if !supportLists]-->· <!--[endif]-->Adjustable hydraulic pressure system, adaptable to oilseeds with different oil content and hardness
<!--[if !supportLists]-->· <!--[endif]-->Batch-by-batch operation allows processing of different oilseed varieties in sequence without cross-contamination
<!--[if !supportLists]-->· <!--[endif]-->304 food-grade stainless steel construction, meeting international food safety production standards
<!--[if !supportLists]-->2. <!--[endif]-->Integrated Oil Filtration:
<!--[if !supportLists]-->· <!--[endif]-->Built-in filtration system removes fine meal particles from crude oil immediately after pressing
<!--[if !supportLists]-->· <!--[endif]-->Finished cold pressed oil is naturally clear, light in color, and ready for bottling without further processing
<!--[if !supportLists]-->· <!--[endif]-->No chemical solvents used at any stage, its clean, natural extraction from start to finish

Why Cold Pressing with a Hydraulic Oil Press?
Cold pressing is not just a processing method. it is a product positioning decision. Oils pressed below 60°C retain natural tocopherols (vitamin E), unsaturated fatty acids, and the characteristic aroma of the raw seed. These are the qualities that justify a premium retail price and meet the requirements of organic certification standards.
For producers targeting health-conscious consumers, premium retail markets, or export to markets with strict food safety requirements, cold pressing with a hydraulic oil press is the extraction method that protects the investment in high-value raw material.
| Hydraulic Cold Press | Screw Hot Press |
Pressing Temperature | Below 60°C | 100–130°C |
Nutrient Retention | High — natural compounds preserved | Lower — heat-sensitive compounds reduced |
Oil Color | Natural, light | Darker |
Oil Flavor | Original, characteristic aroma | Roasted, modified by heat |
Residual Oil in Cake | 3–5% | 6–9% |
Operation | Batch-by-batch | Continuous |
Best For | Specialty, premium, organic oils | Commercial bulk oil production |

Oilseeds suitable for hydraulic cold press extraction
The hydraulic oil press is suitable for cold pressing a variety of high-end oilseeds, including:
<!--[if !supportLists]-->· <!--[endif]-->Walnuts, almonds, macadamia nuts, pine nuts
<!--[if !supportLists]-->· <!--[endif]-->Sesame seeds, flax seeds, pumpkin seeds, hemp seeds
<!--[if !supportLists]-->· <!--[endif]-->Moringa seeds, sacha inchi, cacao nuts
<!--[if !supportLists]-->· <!--[endif]-->Avocados, coconuts (fresh), cocoa beans
For each oilseed variety, pressing parameters, including pressure level and batch time, can be adjusted to match the specific oil content and physical properties of the seed.
Process Results
<!--[if !supportLists]-->· <!--[endif]-->Pressing temperature: less than 60°C - natural active ingredients and original flavor are completely preserved.
<!--[if !supportLists]-->· <!--[endif]-->The cake retains 3–5% oil, yielding more oil per batch than traditional cold press methods.
<!--[if !supportLists]-->· <!--[endif]-->The oil's color is natural and varies depending on the oilseed variety, and there's no heat-induced darkening.
<!--[if !supportLists]-->· <!--[endif]-->As for the oil's quality, it contains no chemical solvents or high-temperature treatments.
<!--[if !supportLists]-->· <!--[endif]-->Processing capacity: 10–50 kg/h, making it ideal for small-scale specialty oil production and startup oil mills.
